This summer; our exhibit pays tribute to the heart and heritage of our island: the working boats that shape daily life. From sturdy shrimp boats and bustling fishing vessels to sleek game rigs heading for open water, these boats are symbols of the island’s spirit, resilience, and tradition.
We invited our member artists to capture the character, beauty, and stories of the local fleet-whether moored in the harbor, silhouetted against sunrise, or braving waves at sea. Through any medium or artistic style, showcase the unique forms and vibrant personalities of shrimpers, fishermen, and all who make their living on the water. Celebrate the enduring connection between island life and the boats that keep its rhythms-and we asked our artists to bring their vision of this maritime world to the Boat Show.
“The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore.” – Vincent Van Gogh
