Judith DeShong Hall

Of her work it has been said, “to see these images through her eyes evokes a joyful sense of well-being.”

Judith DeShong Hall is member of Port Aransas, Rockport and Corpus Christi Art Centers, of the Watercolor Society of South Texas, and the South Texas Art League. She holds signature member status in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and is a Sagebrush Member of the Texas Watercolor Society. A native of San Antonio, Judith earned a BFA at the University of Texas at Austin. Her first full-time job was as a designer for Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, Missouri. After she married, the Halls lived In the Chicago suburbs for twenty-eight years. During that time, and as her art developed, Judith entered art shows, served on art league boards, and taught painting at several art leagues. She also conducted countless guest demos and participated in artist-in-residence programs at public schools.

After receiving M.A. and MFA degrees at Northern Illinois University, she taught watercolor at three suburban junior colleges. After moving to Corpus Christi, Judith has created and taught art locally, at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, Del Mar College, in her studio, and at the Port Aransas Art Center. During that time, she participated in countless group shows and solo exhibits. She also teaches an Acrylic Class at the Port Aransas Art Center on Monday afternoons.

The Workshop

This workshop is for all painters of all skill levels. Bring your favorite medium or if you like, bring a new one with which to experiment: acrylic, oil (oil painters need odorless paint thinner and a jar with a lid to carry away dirty thinner – you cannot dispose of thinner at the Art Center), pastel, watercolor, ink or colored pencil and paper.

Bring:

  • Your own paint support: a medium-sized work surface, paper, canvas, etc. for your painting.
  • Sketch paper and pencil to experiment with compositions also.

Various fresh flowers, plants, containers and cloths will be provided. Bring something of your own for your painting and/or to share, if you wish (cloth, vase, flowers, etc.).
