Explore the vibrant world of soft pastel painting in this hands-on workshop. We’ll
cover pastel materials and surfaces, working from photo references, color and
lighting, composition, blending and mark-making techniques, and creating
underpaintings. We’ll also discuss finishing, storing, and framing pastel artwork.
Participants will create a 9" x 12" landscape inspired by a reference photo
provided by the instructor. Basic materials, including paper, soft pastels, pastel
pencils, and tools, will be supplied, along with samples of different pastel surfaces
to try.
Students are welcome—and encouraged—to bring their own pastels. Suitable for
beginners and artists looking to build their pastel skills.
