In this course, students will learn three fundamental approaches to sketching: contour drawing (capturing form through precise lines), value drawing (adding depth and realism through light and shadow), and gesture drawing (capturing movement and energy with quick, expressive strokes).
To fast-track your progress, we will integrate groundbreaking “right-brain” drawing techniques from Betty Edwards definitive book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
Through classic exercises like upside-down drawing and exploring negative space, you will learn how to quiet your logical, analytical left hemisphere and activate the creative, perceptual right hemisphere.
By training your brain to see shapes and relationships rather than symbols, you will learn to draw exactly what you observe with surprising accuracy, making this course perfect for absolute beginners and practicing artists alike.
