Jeffrey Neel McDaniel Workshop

This workshop, “Skyscapes”, will focus on sharing materials, tools, and techniques of how Jeffrey paints skies. This will include information about topics such as sunrises, sunsets, storms, and clouds. Each participant will leave with a 16”x20” self created painting. They will be provided with a underpatinted panel or canvas to shorten the painting process and allow completion or near completion of their study. This workshop is for a range of levels of students, beginner to advanced who should minimally have some experience working with oil paint.

Students will need to bring the following items:

Palette (paper, wood, or glass )

Paper towels(Viva recommended)

Rag or two

Solvent/brush cleaner container

Gamsol or odorless mineral spirits are mandatory. (prefered turpentine if no health issues).

Canvases or panels:

Two or three 16×20, toned with a warm or cool color of acrylic paint

One underpainted 16x 20 will

Be provided

Brushes: Any good brushes will do but these are some of Jeffrey’s essential favorites:

Jeffrey prefers and mostly uses Windsor & Newton, but other reputable paint companies may be used. ( Gamblin,Utrecht, Old Holland, Rembrandt, etc.)

Mediums: Jeffery usually uses a drying medium, such as Liquin, Galkyd, or Copal.

Sketch pad, charcoal (vine, block, or pencil, or large Sharpie pen)
